Advancing the Use of the PPI™

The PPI™ is is made available for MFIs to use free-of-charge*. To ensure that the largest possible number of organizations have access to the PPI, Grameen Foundation is involved in a wide variety of promotional activities. Once a country PPI is created, a critical step in integrating it into operations at the individual MFI level is ensuring that needed support and advice is available. Grameen Foundation works directly with its network partners as well as with national, regional and international organizations to promote local PPI expertise and facilitate cross-institutional learning. To that end, Grameen Foundation is developing case studies of PPI implementations.
Grameen Foundation, along with a constantly increasing group of other networks, is promoting the PPI's use through training, technical support and advocacy. Supporters of the PPI include: CGAP, Ford Foundation, Imp-Act, Microcredit Summit Campaign, Social Performance Task Force, the SEEP Network, and the SEEP Social Performance Working Group.
Training
Grameen Foundation has developed training modules and practical, user-friendly training and support materials. It is currently developing train-the-trainer modules and continuously refining its participant training manual.
Technical Support
Grameen Foundation has developed a unique social performance tracking capability by integrating PPI data into its Mifos Initiative. Mifos is a freely available world-class management information system (MIS) that provides the core functionality required by microfinance institutions, so integrating the PPI allows for valuable data mining for management purposes. The Mifos PPI module will be available in the version 1.1 release.
Advocacy and Learnings
Grameen Foundation is playing a key role in developing case studies of PPI pilots. In addition, Grameen Foundation is developing presentations, educational materials and other resources geared to informing the MFI industry (raters, investors and MFIs and their networks) on the PPI’s features.
